LUSINA MEDICAL&THERMAL SPA

Lusina Medical&Thermal SPA is a nationwide unique mixed-use healthcare complex with an internal area of 16,638.64 sqr. meters and a gross volume of 102,630. Located in Lusina near Krakow , the facility was established directly above a healing sulphide-brine water spring with unique therapeutic properties. The architecture of the building is based on four interconnected cradle-shaped volumes , whose copper-colored sheet metal finish and CLT (cross-laminated timber) glulam construction create a dynamic, parametric form inspired by the movement of water and the natural corrosion of stone in healing springs. Panoramic glazing, 4 meters wide, opens the interiors to the valley view , while a system of prominent overhanging eaves acts as a technical brise-soleil, protecting the halls from overheating.

The functional program has been precisely distributed within the vaulted structures. The fun zone offers, among other things, Poland’s first artificial WaveRocket river and swimming lanes, while the relaxation zone stands out with a double-sided water bar and an “infinity” pool ending with curved glass. The heart of the complex is the healing zone under the highest cradle, where sulphide water treatments take place in a glass chamber with advanced ventilation technology, supported by another healing brine pool and a massive graduation tower. The offer is complemented by an extensive saunarium featuring an 80-person show sauna, the largest balneology and rehabilitation center in the Lesser Poland region, and a modern gym.

The investment is a technological masterpiece, requiring the use of systems resistant to the aggressive sulphur environment (C4 corrosivity class) and the integration of gas cogeneration units. As the General Designer, ARCHI-VISION coordinated the work of 50 industry offices and experts, successfully navigating the complex procedures to obtain ministerial fire safety derogations and a final building permit. Termy Lusina, scheduled for completion in 2028, will define a new standard for modern health resort treatment and recreation in this part of Europe.
